I was at a b-day party last night and opened this site up for the folks. They all read the last few comments and this was the thoughts of the majority. A good tribute band should LOOK and SOUND like the artist. If you enter the large arena, the artist should even have the facial expressions down. It just depends how far you want to take it. All you have to do is look at the bands that play "hi end venues" - it seems they have the look. Gil, Redwood City

I couldn't agree less with you Rob....I believe it is ALL about the music, without it there was no Skynyrd. Everyone has their own ideas about that I'm sure...."mind set" whatever you want to call it....but to me the music comes first. Rock on Bro.

I was in Redwood City last night , went in to a pizza place and by the time I came out....the wonderful sound of SKYNYRD was everywhere on the square in Redwood City downtown!!!...man you guys are dead on, look like em, sound like em, got the southern accents, and even do the trading lead guitar parts like they do...really impressed and I am a big fan...sorry SKYNYRD is not about the music so you can't be a fan, it is a way of life and a mind set.....thanks, Rob

Seen you guys in Havasu back in March 08 we were one of the twenty people to brave the cold (LOL) it was worth every minute. Hats off to you guys for completing the show you could of easily just said the hell with this and ended the show I'm glad you didn't. Cause I'm hooked, took in the show last night at the Riverside again you guys were fuckin' awesome. I've followed Skynyrd for over 30 years probally know everything about them I have countless video footage of the original band with Ed King and Steve Gaines but never had the chance to see them LYVE now I feel I have. Only for a couple of Guitar parts being switched around You guys have the choreography down to a tee Robert is excellent as Allen his movement as he plays and his leads on his Explorer are freakin' Scarey..and Chris to be able to play some of those Steve Gaines riffs WOW! I've been trying to learn those licks for years. (Hey if you need someone to be Ed King give me a call) LOL. Also awesome work on the Paul by Kirk. I've seen a lot of Skynyrd cover bands but you guys are the shit! Keep on Rockin' you've got a life long fan here for sure.....Frank in Havasu.

Another great SLR performance last night at Iron Steed H-D's grand opening event. They couldn't have booked a better band for the occasion. Your concert was the highlight of my brother, Steve, and his kid's California 7-day vacation. They raved about it the rest of the night and into Sunday morning. Steve's six-year old daughter slept with her guitar pick and drumstick that she was given last night and wouldn't put them down all morning today. Now, we wait six more days and then it's off to the Amador County Fair in Plymouth, CA. to see the sixth SLR concert this year. Larry, Margaret and I were so sorry to hear about your loss this past week. We know you loved your sister dearly as did she, you. Your tribute to her last night brought tears to our eyes. We know that she will be with you in spirit , viewing you and the rest of the band from the best seat in the house. We love you.

Hey boys and girls...just spent some time with you at Rumble to the Summit...I was the former Dixon cop with the green boonie hat that watched you from close up the whole time...I didn't catch that Chris' last name was Durham...so is mine. Just wanted to tell you again that I thought you were GREAT!, and.. like I told you at the gig, I'm a professional musician myself thus a critic, and a rabid Skynyrd fan from the old days, and you all blew me away!! I could've sworn I was listening to Rossington, Collins, Gains, Pyle, Powell, Van Zant and the girls....WOW!! You were truly "Pronounced". I will make an effot to see you again...soon I hope. Keep on rockin' gang!!

We are looking forward to yet another awesome performance by SL at the Lake Havasu City, AZ motorcycle rally in less than two weeks. Sorry we missed Sarah's azz shakin performance due to our poor choice of seating selection. We will make sure we don't make that mistake again at future performances. I was browsing through the January 2008 issue of the Thunder Press and surprised to see a photo of Skynnyn Lynnyrd's own Sarah, Melissa and Leslie on page 88. Congratulations ladies. On another note, Margaret and I are still pinching ourselves after receiving a call from Larry on Tuesday that SL is coming to Yreka in August for the Shasta Salute to America motorcycle rally. I was so excited that while on my way to Medford on Wednesday to do some shopping, I had to stop in at the D&S Harley-Davidson dealership in Phoenix, Oregon to start spreading the word about Skynnyn Lynnyrd coming to Siskiyou County. Several employees at D&S who are huge Lynyrd Skynyrd fans immediately started marking their calendars when I gave them the news. Your Yreka Frynds

I now know now why my brother, Dennis spoke so highly of Skynnyn Lynnyrd. We came from Concord to see you perform at Swabbies and were very impressed. The talent each member of the band displayed was amazing. We enjoyed meeting the band and their families. Everyone was so friendly and we thought it was awesome that Larry dedicated the last song to my sister-in-law, Margaret. Now that we heard you play, we plan to come to more shows next year. Maybe you can come out to Concord sometime. They have outdoor concerts here weekly at the Todos Santos Plaza. We're looking forward to seeing you again. Darlene & Mark

We had a great time at your last performance at Swabbies and as usual you guys put on an awesome performance. My sister and her fiancee were also impressed and I expect have become fans of SL. What we also really like about you guys besides your musical talent is that you are all very personable and really connect with your fans before, during and after your performances. By the way, Larry, as I mentioned to you, you and Maria are welcome to stop in any time you are passing our way. That goes for the rest of the band as well. We have seen you guys perform so often that you are all starting to feel like family to us. We can hardly wait for 2008 to get here. Until then, ya'll stay safe. Your Yreka Friends (Family)

I was not able to go to Swabbies in Sacramento, but some friends of mine went, Terri, her daughter Ellie & another one of my friends, Pat. With just seeing, I think the excitement on Little Ellie's face & being Skynnyn Lynnyrd's BIGGEST fan's of all.........You made this little girls life. The girls in the band also went around & got autographs for Ellie on one of the drum sticks....she will certainly cherish that for ever. If you were able to get any pictures of Ellie with the band on stage, could you e-mail them to me? Sorry again that I missed a good concert. SW

It has only been 5 days now since your last performance we attended and we are already missing all of you. I guess we will have to wait eleven more days until we see and hear you all perform again at Swabbies. Margaret and I knew that SL was awesome the first time we heard you perform at the Palms. Gene Odum validated that with the comments he made about SL's performance. It was definitely a pleasure being able to meet and talk with Gene. See you all at least one more time in 2007!!! Here is a posting I found on http://lynyrdskynyrddixie.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=682 from a Gene Odom / Lynyrd Skynyrd fan. Thought you'd all like to see his review of the Vacaville show....

"I just got back from the show in Vacaville where I met Gene and the Skynyrd tribute band Skynnyn Lynnyrd. I met Gene before the band came on and I'm not sure he knew who I was but it didn't matter. He had a booth set up where he would sign books and sell shirts and he signed my book and I bought a shirt. I hope he reads this post and remembers me because I'll never forget him. I hope I go on the bus tour to meet him again. When I was talking to him he told me to call him whenever, and I definitaly will. He also said that the tribute band was the best there is and HE WAS NOT KIDDING ...WOW these guys put on a show better than the current "real" Lynyrd Skynyrd. Their set was more than twice as long as the "real" band and ten times as good. I know Hell House and others are picky about getting all the correct guitar parts, but let me say that I was two feet from the stage and they didn't miss anything. I'll try and remember the songs they did...its a looong list: Workin for MCA, that smell, whiskey rock-a-roller, three steps, sha(the full length version with Allen and Steve's solos after the piano), gimme back my bullets, tuesdays gone, call me the breeze, curtis loew, you got that right, whats your name, i know a little, i ain't the one, T for texas, simple man, saturday night special, don't ask me no questions, swamp music, down south jukin, poison whiskey, and Freebird. It was the best show. Each guitarist played a band member, but they didn't always play the parts correct for the person, but they didn't miss any parts. The singer walked through the audience during the T for texas jam. They did the full length freebird solo. The Allen guitarist plays the parts far better than Medlocke in my opinion. The Steve Gaines guy played I know a little perfectly. After freebird ended almost everyone in the audience left, but luckily I stuck around and the drummer gave me one of his sticks, and after telling the Gary guitarist how well he played his parts and we talked about the Skynyrd show at shoreline he gave me his pick that he used. Gene also signed my Skynyrd cd. If you live in the California area you do not want to miss this band. it was a free concert!! and better than the "real" Skynyrd, doesn't get any better than that. Gene it was really great meeting you and I hope to again soon when I go to Jacksonville." - ThatSmell - Palo Alto, CA.

What a fantastic performence at the Vacaville Festival on the 15th. We had a wonderful time seeing you perform all our favorite songs. I was lucky enough to get some excellent photos of all of you even with the standing room only in the entire plaza area. The oppertunity to meet Gene Odom and purchase his book was a pleasent treat. We will thoroughly enjoy reading "Lynyrd Skynyrd: Remembering the Free Birds of Southern Rock". All your hard work and practice certainly shows with how smoothly your entire show flows. Larry your entrance was awesome!!! Robert your my "SUPER STAR" I'm so proud of you. Your all very talented, Thank you for such a great time.

We are starting to get withdrawal symptoms from not having seen a Skynnyn Lynnyrd performance in a month now. We are looking forward to the group's performance at Harrah's Plaza in Reno in September. By the way, thank you Kirk for getting us into the Opera House to see the band get tuned up for last month's concert in Woodland! It was quite a learning experience to see how hard the band, and sound man Dave, work to get the sound just right. Dennis & Margaret

I got the oppourtunity to see Skynnyn Lynnyrd in Petaluma 8/19/07 at a Bike Rally, & was totally speechless! The music, the showmanship, & the energy definitely took me back to when I saw the original Lynnyrd Skynyrd years ago--in fact I found myself doing double-takes many times throughout the show literally saying to myself..."WOW! THIS IS THE REAL DEAL!!" Every riff, every lyric, every second of the performance was pure Skynyrd from beginning to end! If you ever get the chance to see Skynnyn Lynnyrd in concert, jump on it & prepare to be taken back into time & thoroughly entertained just as I was, & just as I will be when I see them again & again! All three of us were all very impressed and you have us craving more of Skynnyn Lynnyrd. I have already contacted the folks at the Britt Festival folks in Jacksonville, Oregon to request that they book you guys for this seasons concert series. Been following this band since it started. Never disapointed with a performance. Today I was just looking at the web site to check out the upcoming dates. Noticed the live recordings and decided to give a listen. Without background noise, screaming and people to distract me, the music is simply great. It gives new appreciation to me for the talent of the group. Glad to see you will be working more. Good luck.

Larry, What a great band. It's impressive to see what you've done. What a talented group of people you've assembled. I hope my band can even come close to what you guys have done. I was recently looking into power amps for my PA. Right now I have a powered mixer and I guess the 800 Watts (400/channel @ 4 Ohms) isn't enough for outdoor performances? I was thinking about using its power to run the monitors and to get a power amp/amps for the mains. Any suggestions on brands and such? Speakers? Thanks for any input you may have ..

Outdoor sound requires LOTS of power and very efficient drivers.  Your 400 watt rig will do monitors but depending on what kind of impact you are seeking, I would not ask your rig to push 103 db spl to an audience of 350.  Expect damaged equipment if you push it too hard.  You might however, be able to do acoustic instruments and vocals successfully.

We use Martin Audio F2 stacks with Cerwin Vega horn subs.  We have 4500 watts driving 5 way speakers - all horn loaded with 108 db / 1 watt / 1 meter efficiency.  We will be upgrading our power to the F2 bass boxes for a total of 5600 watts.  Also, to power this rig takes allot of current, requiring a power distribution system - 60 amps minimum.

We find this system does a good job for outdoor audience of 1500 +.  Think big $ for outdoor concert sound.  Hope this answers your questions.  Thanks for the post! :)

Are the bookings that you have on the site now, were they for last years ones, or is this current? I know that you guys played at the Palms in Winters & would like to go back again there, beings you guys haven't been to woodland (by the way, we REALLY want you guys in Woodland)..... Can you fill me in on the confusion that I apparently have? Thanks.....

Hello , the current show page is for upcoming shows.  We are booked for the Palms February 24th, 2007.  Looking forward to seeing you and all your friends!  Perhaps you can suggest the venue that you would like to see us play in Woodland.  Isn't the Yolo County Fair in Woodland?

Hey dude, i noticed one of your posts on YouTube... you wanted to know how to do the Satch Scream??... well its quite easy really... on the strings before the neck, but after the bridge... there are natural harmonics.... one different guitars they are different places... like mine are just before the neck... but satchs are nearer the bridge.. but anyway.. you push down on the whammy/tremelo bar to the tension you want... so obviously the harder you push down the lower it will sound and when you release up it will change pitch screaming higher.... and then you pinch exsactly where the harmonics are (after you chose the level of tension using the whammy/tremelo bar... (might take a while to get used to knowing where the harmonics are) and you have it... :) Tuvster. P.S Visit my satch fan site: www.satriani.piczo.com .... and nice covers :)

I REALLY ENJOYED YOUR SHOW IN SUSANVILLE,CA ON MARCH 18TH 2006. BUT I THINK YOU SHOULD SELL SHIRTS AND STUFF NEXT TIME.

Great minds think alike!  We've been investigating and actually had a test-run T-shirt made but they did not meet our quality standards.  Stay tuned for Skynnyn Lynnyrd T-shirts and possibly other merchandise.  Thanks for your suggestions!

Beth - Robert is single, learned the guitar from his father and friends, should be bald and complains about being cold often!

Thanks for your comments and support!

Hi I went to your show on the 21st at the Little Fox Theatre and was so impressed with your band. I especially liked your drummer who just joined your band. Your band plays so well together it was clear that you are devotede to your music. I think it would be worth it to promote each musician more solo time. Lookling forward to seeing more of you.

The musicians agree - there is often disagreement about who will do what solo but remember, this is note-for-note so there is not much latitude for break-away soloing.  We will be promoting more solo work on future originals.  Thanks for your comments!

Man, that lead singer really rocks; he's the spitt'n immage of the real skynyrd man (from only about 30 feet away). The rest of the band looks great / rustic; kinda good-ole 70's! I saw pitures of bands from the 70's; I don't really remember much back then; rock history books really help out for me! Maybe one day I'll see your band; so for now, your in my mind! Bono Fortuna with all! This band will expand the enjoyment of others through great past memories of America's Skynyrd band. Thanks, John G.

I saw you guys at Bourbon street, you were way better than the first bands. The 3 guitar attack gives it a lot better of a sound. If Bullets hadn't fallen apart, it would have been a flawless show! Good job, keep it up! I hope to see you guys at the Fox in january! Who was that kid that was playing with you, he's really fucking AWESOME! But he's not in the BIO's...and why doesn't he have more solos? -Brad PS, was the guy with the Les Paul wearing a wig? There was a line on his forehead...

Actually, he was not wearing his hat!  We keep telling him to "cover that up..." :)
